Bedlam Foundation & Concrete Lifting Case Studies: Helical Piers - OG&E Pipeline
Challenge
This job was unique in that it was not a repair project, but rather a step in the initial construction process. Bedlam Concrete Lifting was contracted to install a system at two separate valvesites of an OG&E natural gas pipeline, each capable of supporting a 7500 pound load in order to ensure the stability of two elevated pipe sections.
Solution
At each of the two valvesites, Bedlam Concrete Lifting installed four FSI Model 350 Galavanized Helical Piers. The piers were arranged in a square configuration around the valve, and driven to a pressure of approximately 1800 psi each using a Pro-Dig Model X12K5 drive head. At full depth, an ultimate capacity of 5.9 kips was achieved.
