Commercial Applications Case Studies: Pressure Grout & NexusPro - AT&T Building, Tulsa, OK
Challenge
The Detroit Tower (formerly owned by AT&T, now the Tulsa headquarters of First Baptist Church) has been a staple of the East Tulsa skyline for almost a century. However, as is fairly common in the Tulsa area, over the building's long life, some of the earth underneath had shifted and settled, and although the building itself was not siginificantly affected, the sidewalks around the building, including those in front of the Detroit Avenue entrance, had sank severely on the side nearest to the building. Not only was this hugely detrimental to the aesthetic of a historic, well-maintained building, but it channeled water inward, putting the building at risk for flooding and water damage.
Solution
Bedlam Concrete Lifting injected a pressure grout beneath the surface of the sidewalk on the sinking side nearest the building, filling the void beneath and lifting each individual concrete slab back to level. After the sidewalk was fully restored to restored to its ideal condition, the joints between the slabs and all joints near the building were sealed with FSI NexusPro sealant, making the filled void and area around it completely impervious to water.
